Which probe do you need?
Stewart Warner Performance lists three types of probes for use with our Exhaust Temperature Gauges (pyrometers). After several people have asked which one they should use we hope to help everyone with the following information.
STREET PROBE:
Someone who drives their car daily and races occasionally, or not at all should use the street probe. - This probe has more shielding and will last longer than the high performance probe but will not respond as quickly to temperature
changes
STREET PERFORMANCE PROBE:
Someone that races often and does not drive the car on the street daily should use the street performance probe. - This probe has less shielding than the street probe so it will react to temperature changes quicker but may not last as long.
HIGH PERFORMANCE PROBE:
The hard core racer that has a car that is raced often and is rarely or never street driven will want the high performance probe. - This probe has an exposed thermocouple junction (no shielding) which gives the ultimate reaction time to temperature change but has no protection and it's life will be short.
