One of the most un-researched and mismatched items on most Restoration or Race Cars is
the wrong type of wire.
Wire is Wire??...No, the standard wire that you get from the local Auto
Parts store is a straight strand which is fine for low amperage short runs,
but when your wiring your big draw accessory's like fuel pumps, water pumps
and cooling fans you need the capacity of Cross link wire.
Look at the specs on the image, you'll see why wire is not just wire.
Electrons do not flow through the wire they flow around the wire. Take
a close look at the wires to your MSD box and distributor, notice how soft
they are, they also have a dull finish...CROSS LINK for all electronic, ground and high load requirements.
Cross link wire will not support combustion, once the flame source is
irradiated the fire will go out and stay out, it will melt but not explode
into flames. When the safety crew hits it with the extinguishers the
fire will stay out. Any Safety Crew guy can tell you about car fire that
just will not go out...........wrong wire.

GROUND IT!!!
I can't express any stronger how important the grounds are on
your car, the little 1/4" strap from the valve cover to the firewall is not going
to cut it. You need real ground straps from the engine to the frame
and from the battery to the frame. Without good ground straps you'll
have starter, alternator and electronic
equipment failures.
Proper grounding also reduces the electrolysis in the engine that eats
away freeze plugs, water pumps, aluminum heads and intake manifolds.
